Watson picked up best female performance for her role as "Hermione," while Daniel Radcliffe who plays the lead won for best
male performance, beating Daniel Craig from the Bond movie, Johnny Depp, and co-star Rupert Grint. Rupert has this

were picked solely on public votes. The show will be broadcast on ITV1 on Saturday at 21.30 GMT.

In an interview with our friends at Dark Horizons, actor Jim Broadbent has confirmed that he will be playing the role of Slughorn in Half-Blood Prince:
Broadbent: Yeah I had basically
three months in Lincolnshire in the summer and suddenly now I'm back on the rollercoaster again and I've got to finish off
Indiana Jones next month and I've got a bit on Young Victoria and it's all been sort of stacking up and then I'm doing Harry
Potter.
Question: Who are you?
Broadbent: Who am I? He's called Horace Slughorn. He's a retired teacher of magic
who's drawn back out of retirement because he's got some secrets they need in the battle against the Deatheaters and he's
quite star struck as a teacher and he's drawn back into the fold because he likes to notch up celebrity students, and he's
drawn back by Harry.

Warner Brothers has announced this evening that the Harry Potter series is the largest-grossing film franchise to date
globally, surpassing Star Wars and and James Bond. Totaling $4.47 billion in ticket sales (with two films left to go, WB points
out), several high-ups at Warner Brothers are quoted in the press release:
In making the announcement, Alan Horn [President & Chief Operating Officer] said, “It would be an understatement
to say we are proud of the success of the Harry Potter films. We also want to congratulate all of the extraordinary actors,
filmmakers and artists who have shared this remarkable cinematic journey with us.”
Dan Fellman, Warner Bros.
Pictures President of Domestic Distribution, said, “It is a thrill to see the Harry Potter franchise reach this unparalleled
mark, and, with two movies yet to come, it is amazing to think what heights the franchise could reach by the end of the decade.
Veronika
Kwan-Rubinek, Warner Bros. Pictures President of International Distribution, added, “This worldwide box office record
once again proves that the appeal of the Harry Potter movies knows no border, no age limit, and no language barrier. Each
of the five films has captured the hearts and sparked the imagination of audiences everywhere.”
Of note, Variety has published an article comparing the Potter film franchise to the other big ones:
Bond, which dates back to 1962, has generated $4.44 billion worldwide and the "Star Wars" pics have pulled down
$4.23 billion since the first release in 1977. None of the tallies account for inflation or rising ticket prices.
And
domestically the "Star Wars" franchise still far outpaces the boy wizard. All told, the "Star Wars" pics have grossed $2.18
billion, while the "Harry Potter" franchise has grossed $1.41 billion. But then there are still two more "Potters" to go.
And
all three have generated millions upon millions in downstream ancillary coin for their studios, once homevideo and TV revenue
are added into the tallies.

Joshua, Rupert issued the following statement: "I am totally appalled and disgusted by the actions of Joshua Lodge. I am 100%
behind the victim."
Lodge, 19, was cautioned by the police for the offense. This means his name will remain on the

the upcoming movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince according to an article today from The Independent. Although filming for the next movie begins in just two months' time, in a statement issued yesterday Helena's publicist
said she was not due back on set to film her scenes until Spring 2008.
The actress is currently pregnant with her
second child, which could explain the delay in filming her part.

Last month at the
US premiere of the film, Emerson and I asked director David Yates how many deleted scenes we could expect on DVD. His answer falls in line with an update at the British Board of Film Classification's website, which lists 10 minutes worth of deleted and extended scenes to be included on the DVD. Thanks to Leaky for this.
As for a release date, rumors are currently circulating that we can expect to see it in mid-November (many
sites report November 12th in the UK). We'll be sure to update you as soon as we hear more!

August 27, 2007: According to a new report released by several British film and tourism bodies, the location of scenes
shot in the Harry Potter movies are among several recent films responsible for the boost in UK tourism.
"British
films and television programs play a powerful role in showcasing the UK to the rest of the world and boosting tourism," said
John Woodward, chief executive of the UK Film Council.
"There are countless examples of visitors flocking to locations
they've seen in films or on TV and the effect can last for years."
The report also listed several other non-Potter
films, including The Da Vinci Code, Gosford Park and Pride and Prejudice.

August 26, 2007: At a recent lecture in the US, John Williams, former composer of the Harry Potter movie soundtrack, was asked if he was hoping to score the last
Harry Potter film. He said with confidence that he thinks he will be back for the last and then added that he hopes he is.
As previously reported, Nicholas Hooper will be scoring Half-Blood Prince.
The Sunday Mirror is reporting this morning that a Harry Potter-themed musical is currently in the works. To open in London's West End, the article says producers are
working on several script ideas and believe it has huge potential:
"The difficulty is condensing the seven books
into a manageable show. They are exploring various ideas. One possibility is to tell the whole story. Another is to just take
a single plot."
While very interesting, the Sunday Mirror says that producers hope to have the show open next year.
Unless this musical has been in the works for some time, there is very little chance that it could open in only 1 - 2 years
time. So with that, put this in the "very very big rumor" category for now until more whispers start floating around. Thanks
to those who e-mailed with the link!
Earlier tonight at the 2007 Teen Choice Awards, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix walked away with the surfboard

August 22, 2007: The author of the Harry Potter novels and the actress that brings Hermione to life on the movie screen
have been selected as two of 100 women Premiere has chosen because of their impact on the film industry in 2007.
WORD WIZARD J.K. Rowling The author behind the second highest-grossing film franchise in history (after James Bond)
cast a powerful spell with the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which broke Spider-Man 2's record for
the best Wednesday opening in history. One week later, the final book in the series was released to riotous crowds who bought
8.3 million copies on the first day in the U.S. alone — and Warner Brothers acknowledged that movie ticket sales for
Phoenix actually fell because fans were too busy reading. What a novel idea!
HOGWARTS HOTTIE Emma Watson Whether
or not the young actress can and will play anyone besides the Harry Potter film franchise's Hermione is irrelevant until 2010,
when the series will reach its grand finale. Until then, she'll amass more and more fans while putting away $4 million per
film into her college fund.

August 20, 2007: Earlier this week, we told you about a Scottish novelist's comment stating that JK Rowling was writing a crime novel. In a new interview with the author Ian Rankin, he describes the rumors as a "joke that got out of hand. There were 600 people in the audience,
and only one person didn't laugh." Emma Schlesinger, speaking for Rowling's literary agent, has commented on the theories
concerning Jo and her next book. "JK Rowling is taking a well-earned break following the English language publication
of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and there are no firm plans as yet as to what her next book may be."

August 19, 2007: The Associated Press is reporting that our favorite author may be working on a crime novel. The information comes from novel writer Ian Rankin, who is a neighbor
of Jo's.
"My wife spotted her writing her Edinburgh criminal detective novel," the newspaper, which was available
late Saturday, quoted Rankin as saying.
Rankin, famous for his own police novels set in the historic Scottish city,
said he had not discussed the project with Rowling personally, and declined to reveal how he had learned about her plans.
"It
is great that she has not abandoned writing or Edinburgh cafes," Rankin said.
As the article mentions, Jo has said
she will work on new stories in the future (and confirmed that a young children's book is halfway complete at a charity reading
back in August 2006). We'll keep you updated as we know more, but consider this a big rumor for now. If she were to release
a new book, it likely won't be for a while. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

According to her official website, Emma Watson has been nominated for an award for her part in OOTP at the National Movie Awards. The ceremony will be aired

August 13, 2007: The actress who plays Hermione in the Potter films has updated her blog with more information on her upcoming role in Ballet Shoes: "I really thought I was going to take this summer off

special."Read more at the link above.
A recent SEC filing reported by the Orlando Sentinel reveals that Warner Brothers and Universal have an agreement for a targeted release date between December 15th, 2009 and
June 30, 2010. While we're all hoping for a mid-December release, various construction issues could delay the opening
all the way until late June. The broad window may be just for safety in case of some unexpected hold ups. We'll keep you updated!
August 11, 2007: JK Rowling has updated her site to wish Ginny Weasley a happy birthday!
In a new article written by King for Entertainment Weekly, the author reveals his thoughts about Deathly Hallows and explains why a critic's review
of the book simply isn't worth reading:
When you have only four days to read a 750-page book, then write an 1,100-word
review on it, how much time do you have to really enjoy the book? To think about the book? Jo Rowling set out a sumptuous
seven-course meal, carefully prepared, beautifully cooked, and lovingly served out. The kids and adults who fell in love with
the series (I among them) savored every mouthful, from the appetizer (Sorcerer's Stone) to the dessert (the gorgeous epilogue
of Deathly Hallows).
You may remember that Stephen hosted a charity reading with JK Rowling and John Irving a year ago this month in New York City. He has said on numerous occasions that he's a huge fan of the Potter series.
The actress who plays Hermione in the Potter films announced on her official website that she'll be playing a lead role in the upcoming film "Ballet Shoes" for BBC 1:
Emma will play the part of "Pauline",
the eldest of 3 orphaned sisters who lead a sheltered life until they begin at the Children's Academy of Dancing and Stage
Training. Only then do they begin to discover their special talents and extraordinary ambitions.
The film will
also star Richard Griffiths and Robert Hardy (who play Vernon Dursley and Fudge in the Potter films, respectively). Look for
it on the BBC around Christmas time! Thanks to Mugglenet for the News
August 9, 2007: A photo of JK Rowling's son, David, was previously published by The Sunday Express alongside an article about
Jo's approach to motherhood. JK later sued the paper and the agency which supplied the photo, seeking damages and an injunction
banning further publication of the photograph or any other picture taken of him without his consent. Unfortunately, she has lost this case but plans to appeal. Jo and husband Neil stated, "We see no legitimate reason why, as in this case, David,
who was less than two years of age at the time, should have his photograph taken and then published in the press. We take
his, and that of his siblings, privacy and safety very seriously." The judge remarked that he has "considerable sympathy
for the claimant's parents and anyone else who wishes to shield their children from intrusive media attention. [But] an area
of routine activity which, when conducted in a public place, carries no guarantee of privacy." We wish Jo luck in her
appeal.

July 31, 2007: Happy Birthday JK Rowling and Harry Potter!!
July 30, 2007: In a new interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuaron says that
he would be "very tempted" to direct Deathly Hallows: I feel a little bit like I have to try to do the films
that are not going to exist without me. On the same token, I would be really tempted because it was really beautiful. I just
started reading the last book and something I respect is the care the producers have put in the film franchise. It would have
been so easy after the success of the series just to take the cynical approach of knowing that no matter what people are going
to see those movies. Actually they've been taking a lot of care from beginning to end, so yeah I would be really tempted.Read
the full interview at this link. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

about Deathly Hallows: Michael: Why didnt fawkes come back to help harry I would have thought that
since harry was so loyal to dumbledore, fawkes would have been harrys new pet J.K. Rowling: Something had to leave
the school for good when Dumbledore died, and I decided that would be Fawkes. Dumbledore was a very great and irreplacable
man, and the loss of Fawkes (and the fact that he was 'non-transferable'!) expresses this symbolically Read the

This morning, JK Rowling appeared on The Today Show to answer questions some fans have been asking concerning her
last Harry Potter book. In the interview, she addressed things left out of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, such
as jobs some of the characters took on in the future. She also discussed the epilogue that many fans were not expecting to
see.
Here is the article and please do not read the it if you have not read Deathly Hallows as is it does contain SPOILERS about the
book. The second part of this interview will air tomorrow and a one-hour special will be shown on Dateline on Sunday.
In an interview with USA Today, JK Rowling addresses life after Harry Potter, as well as her reaction to the numerous Deathly Hallows spoilers,
which leaked only days before its release:
"I had been working toward that point [the epilogue] for a long
time. I did have a sense-of-humor failure when the epilogue went up."
As always, proceed with caution if you have
not yet finished the book, as this article contains SPOILERS.

Additionally, Jo announced that she "probably will" create a Harry Potter encyclopedia!
From NBC's website:
The encyclopedia would include back stories of characters she has already written but had to
cut for the sake of narrative arc (“I've said before that Dean Thomas had a much more interesting history than ever
appeared in the books”), as well as details about the characters who survive “Deathly Hallows,” characters
who continue to live on in Rowling’s mind in a clearly defined magical world.

from being spoiled: We are almost there! As launch night looms, let's all, please, ignore the misinformation popping
up on the web and in the press on the plot of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I'd like to ask everyone who calls themselves
a Potter fan to help preserve the secrecy of the plot for all those who are looking forward to reading the book at the same
time on publication day. In a very short time you will know EVERYTHING!We, of course, support Jo's statement and
ask all of our visitors to avoid spreading information about Deathly Hallows in our comments. With the book release
being less than three days away, there's no point in spoiling it now.
The US book publisher has issued a statement this morning which reveals where a leak of Deathly Hallows occurred: We
are taking immediate legal action against DeepDiscount.com and Levy Home Entertainment. The number of copies shipped is around
one one-hundredth of one percent of the total U.S. copies to go on sale at 12:01 am on July 21st. Read more here.
July 12, 2007: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix made 12 million dollars on the mightnight premiere and 44 million
dollars on opening night. It has made a new record! I guess we can expect to see them in the Guiness Book of World Records
again! It surpassed Spiderman 2, which had made $40.2 million on its opening day. Paul Dergarabedian, the president of Media
By Numbers, calls the record "pretty incredible." "This is one of those rare franchises that is as relevant today as it was
when the franchise first started. For a fifth installment to be breaking records is pretty incredible." He also predicts the
movie to quickly rise to the $100 million mark over the weekend.
Last night(the 11th), Daniel was on Larry King Live, CNN, talking about Order of the Phoenix and how doing the first
three movies has changed his perception on doing the sixth and seven movies. Watch his interview here.
Emma Watson appeared on Late Show with David Letterman last night and also talked about Order of the Phoenix and how
she got the part of Hermione. Watch part of her interview here.

Severus Snape: Friend Or Foe?
Foe:
Beginning with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Snape displays a dislike of Harry. Is a childhood
grudge against his father reason enough to hate Harry or is it something more?
Why was Snape so set on expelling Harry from Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, what were snape and Karkaroff conspiring about?
Knowing the danger Harry faced, why did Snape continue to goad Sirius in Harry Potter and the Order of
the Phoenix?
In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, what were Snape's motives for his Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa?
And of course, there is the major question of Snape and Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
We'll leave out the details for anyone that may not have yet read the books.
Friend:
In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, why did Snape attempt to protect Harry from Professor Quirrell?
Why did Snape go to the graveyard immediately upon being summoned by Voldemort in Harry Potter and the
Goblet of Fire?
In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, why did Snape alert the Order of the Phoenix that Harry
was facing danger at the ministry?
In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, why did Snape agree to teach Harry Occulemency.
Dumbledore tells Harry he trusts Snape in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and again it is
implied in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Would Dumbledore, the most powerful wizard of his time, misplace
his trust in Snape?

DVDs are set to be removed from US shelves today, with the Goblet of Fire DVD coming off on January 22nd.
Some companies, like Disney, do this so that longer and higher quality versions can be released later on.
December 30, 2006: I've been doing a lot of Harry Potter reading this morning, mostly on Book 7, "Harry
Potter and the Deathly Hallows." I didn't even KNOW about it until I was in MySpace in one of my Harry Potter groups and I read up on it in The Leaky Cauldron! The Official Name, the UNOFFICIAL
release date, the size of the book, and much, much more. Check out all this news HERE.
Also, more news on the movie "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" HERE and the full Harry Potter Cast HERE
July 17, 2006: I'm not sure if this is official, or if it's just a rumour, but I found it under "Filmography
- Yahoo" while browsing the new cast members for OOTP. Tony Maudsley to play the voice of Grawp
(Hagrid's Giant Brother). I guess Grawp will be a Computer like a lot of other mythical creatures in Harry Potter,
such as Dobby, Fluffy, and Buckbeak.
July 2, 2006: More information concerning the Cast has been brought to my attention. Some actors and actresses
that are going to be in the Ootp movie that are not listed at Mugglenet and Veritaserum will be listed under this link: The-Leaky-Cauldron Movie 5
Everyone, including myself, has been dying to know who is coming back in the OOTP movie, and who is not.
I have a list of confirmed actors/actresses who WILL be in the OOTP movie, and a list of unconfirmed actors/actresses who
may or may not be in the movie. Props to Mugglenet for the confirmed list, and props to Veritaserum for the unconfirmed list.
Picture has been moved to a different page. Click here.
